Northern Cyprus

Interested?! Your Plan B

What we mean by Plan B:

We don’t know where the journey will lead.
My grandfather told me: You stand safest on three legs.
One of these legs can be Northern Cyprus.
Currently, it is a place that is quick and easy to reach.
It enables the safeguarding of assets.
It can offer tax relief.
And currently offers a higher quality of life.

What awaits you in Northern Cyprus

Friendly, open people with a smile on their face who are grateful that you come and are here. Because this supports the local economy. Retailers, since there are no shopping centers or chains in Northern Cyprus like we have in the DACH region.

Entry is uncomplicated.
Via Ercan – the Northern Cypriot airport – you arrive from Istanbul on a domestic flight. You are then already in Northern Cyprus and take a taxi over the mountains into the green landscape of Esentepe/Girne – nestled between the sea on one side and mountains on the other.

Or via Larnaca – the Southern Cypriot airport – here you usually arrive on a direct flight from one of the DACH airports.
The journey to the north is somewhat more complicated and longer (approx. 1.5 – 2 hours) and leads across the border – often with considerable waiting times here as well.

Northern Cyprus is recognized and supported as an independent state solely by Turkey. That means Northern Cyprus is not part of the EU.

The language is therefore also Turkish – however, almost everyone speaks English. It is also the official language. Cyprus was a British colony. This is still noticeable today through left-hand traffic, the language, and the currency: GBP (British Pound). All major expenses (investments, etc.) are paid in GBP. In addition, the Turkish Lira (TL) as well as the Euro are welcome payment methods. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere – even for small amounts. Debit cards only at certain ATMs or banks.

There is no compulsory schooling in NC – there are many schools – and no less than 17 universities in the north. Thus approx. 70,000 students are on the northern side of the island.

Medical care is excellent. It is affordable for everyone and of the highest standard. Alternative medicine is also available, but the demand is far from being met.

One of the main sources of income on the island are the casinos – they are there, can be used – but otherwise remain in the background.
In contrast, beaches, mountains, and greenery are always present.
Sea swimming season is from May – October (officially) – mountain hikes in the pine forests or mountain biking – all year round.

Internet – yes, it is available everywhere in sufficient quality. For your own apartment/house, the standard is often adequate. A direct connection offers very good performance – this costs (as of 10/2022) approx. 500 €/year.

There are sights everywhere on the island, cultural offerings – but also clubs, cafés, nature reserves, a top-class golf course, many festivals throughout the year, and much more.

There is so much variety – see for yourself… it cannot all be presented here – and certainly not the feeling of freedom, deceleration, and balance that already sets in when stepping onto the island.

Northern Cyprus – a tax haven?

When taxes are paid, it shows: money is being made.

Income tax rates in Northern Cyprus range from 0% to 37.5%.

Nothing more on this topic here. It always depends on the individual situation and what I really, really, really want.
Happy to discuss this concretely in a personal conversation with the respective experts.

Secure value – Increase value

Especially when it comes to assets and values, a clear uncertainty can be felt. More for some, less for others.

Yes, there is interest on deposits in Northern Cyprus – at least with the banks we work with – ranging from 1.25 – 3.5%.

Yes, there are returns on physical investments (real estate) of 15 – 30% per year, currently and certainly for the next 2 – 5 years. Provided the purchase price is market-standard and not commission-driven 😉

Comparison shopping is essential – we did the same and paid some tuition fees along the way. We are happy to share our experiences and those of our partners.
